I have been working at Conifer Health Solutions full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Multiple shifts and locations to cross train/transfer to if one area isn't for you.
Great experience with co-workers.
Direct management willing to help out when needed.

Cons

Terrible compensation for the amount of stress the job entails.
Medical benefits are awful considering this is a "medical" business.
Virtually no room for advancement unless you are in proximity of corporate office.
HR is completely phone based since they are only located in TX (and difficult to get in touch with).
PTO takes a long time to build.
Expectation for collections are nearly impossible in this economy (even though collection trainers completely deny this).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Middle management is great, however upper management needs to take a look at what patient access reps actually have to deal with on a daily basis. It's a tough job in which new responsibilities get added daily.

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, great supervisor who understands what it is that employees are up against every day, far better idea of industry standards that what my former (hospital) employer had; staffing has been increased to meet actual demands.

    Cons

Senior management such as my department manager and director change their story depending on who they are talking with and what day of the week it is. The environment is very "corporate" and things that should be simple to do, like speaking to an HR rep, are next to impossible. Since the company is based in Texas it is difficult to get to anyone in HR, payroll, or IT that can actually help you. Pay could be better considering that medical benefits suck.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Staff need better medical benefits, what is offered is an insult to the staff and is far less than what anyone in health care should be receiving. The $1500 deductible before a single thing is covered is absurd and the prescription coverage might as well be non-existent.

I have been working at Conifer Health Solutions full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work from home so no office issues. Training continues to improve.

    Cons

Can work overtime but do not get paid overtime, just straight pay. No holiday pay, just straight pay. Equipment and IT is not top notch. Difficult to get time off and almost impossible to get a Saturday or Sunday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay for overtime and holidays. Improve equipment and systems.
