I worked at Conn's

Pros

Conn's pay is very good. They lure you in with the chance to make good money.

Cons

The senior leadership team lacks integrity. Get every promise in writing. If you are an executive, demand an employment agreement or dont go to work their. Loyalty only goes one way.

Although the company is publically traded, it is still run like a 10 store mom and pop operation. "The CEO's son was just named as his future replacement. He is not qualified."

There is no formal pay plan for hourly or salaried workers. You have to ask for increases. If your boss is on the bad list, none of his people get raises. It is not uncommon for people to go 5 years without an increase.

Poor business practises are accepted as part of the "culture." The word culture is overused as an explanation for anything that doesnt make sense.

The company is downright cheap and tries to nickel and dime employess. Employees have to bring there own pens and note pads to work. Managers have to pay alot of travel expenses out of their own pockets.

There are no advocates for employees at this company. HR is non excistent. HR VP is not even included in most staff meetings.

If an accident happens at work, and it could have been avoided, a percentage of the cost of the accident will be deducted from the employees check. You can say no, but you wont work there anymore.

Company doesnt care about customers unless they know ceo. Call center associates are nothing more than paid pinatta's.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring the company into 2008. You have been successful in the past, but you can be better. Show the same sense of urgency for your employees and customers that you do with your personal wealth and the company will be a better place.

    Pros

Laid back, commission based for a chance to earn big money in a simple environment

Too many sales associates competing for sales may make this a low paying job opportunity. sales associates may be forced to work overtime with no overtime pay because you are paid by commission.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

they should modernize their marketing tactics... Pay more attention to sales associates because we are more than just peasants, we represent your company to the public.
