I have been working at Connections Academy full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Flexibility, working from home, new challenges with connecting and motivating students online

Cons

Corporate driven - top down management. They've gotten too large to be as accommodating and adaptable as in the past.

I have been working at Connections Academy full-time

    Pros

Flexible working hours and ability to work from home
    Benefits are pretty comprehensive

    Cons

    Salary is not competitive.
As a result they are not always able to recruit the best administrators.
Work load and responsibilities increase over time there without change in compensation

If you don't "click" with management, work will be very difficult

I have been working at Connections Academy

    Pros

    Fellow colleagues within the department
    Understanding immediate supervisor
    Encourage interaction with other departments
Encourage professional growth related to online technology or pursuit of Master's degrees through American Public University ONLY

    Cons

    Extremely "clique"-ish
Management chooses and clearly defines "favorites"
    Other perspectives/ideologies are not welcome
Professional growth not immediately related to educational technology is not encouraged/met with disapproval
Lofty promises to clients/parents with complete disregard to employee's work hours/abilities to complete work
Completely different standards for each department (work hours, salaries, etc.)
Some project managers assign ridiculous deadlines without respect to current workload, or change project dates without telling you

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At first, Connections seemed like a fabulous place to work. However, it was immediately apparent that each department has their own cliques established, and if you are not a part of that, then look out. Furthermore, one department gets paid for lunch while other departments do not... management styles between departments are COMPLETELY different... in one department jeans are the standard; in another, they are forbidden. It feels like several different companies operating under one roof. The salaries are all over the place and not at all streamlined or commensurate with experience. As a salaried employee, don't be surprised if you find yourself working 14 hour days first as the exception, then as the rule, just to deliver on promises or completely impossible project deadlines.
