Former Employee - Customer Service Representative (Temp) in Columbia, MD

I worked at Connections Academy as a contractor (less than a year)

Pros

- A lot of motivating people
- Enough freedom to be yourself but not too much where the place would be hectic
- They go out of their way to show that they appreciate you (i.e. omelette guys, ice cream, and pizza)

Cons

- They hire a lot of temps during their season with the most call volume so, only about 30-40% of the people in that department were regular employee's

I have been working at Connections Academy full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The best part of working at Connections it the level of engagement and enthusiasm of the employees. It is by far the most committed and driven group of people with whom I have ever worked. There is a true culture of accountability and responsibility. Success is met with recognition and reward. Failure is looked at as an opportunity to analyze oneself and improve.

    Cons

As with many quickly growing organizations, it is difficult to maintain a high growth rate while retaining the efficiency of a small organization. At times our growing pains have caused challenges and required extraordinary efforts to navigate.

Too much work for too little pay...

I have been working at Connections Academy (more than a year)

    Pros

    young, energetic atmosphere
    casual dress code

    Cons

    average benefits
low pay (with no insight into pay structure)
corporate atmosphere after Pearson acquisition (all about "capitalizable time")

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You seriously need to revisit your salary structure. It seems incredibly arbitrary (as well as being completely out of sync with the rest of the Baltimore-Washington area). No surprise that there is high turnover. You are wasting money and resources by having to retrain people every few months. Pony up more money and you may find yourself with more loyal employees...

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
