I worked at Conner Prairie full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

it was an outstanding place to work. good people, very knowledgeable, willing to pass on their knowledge and everyone had a common goal to keep history alive. all in all though the best job I ever had!

    Cons

it is a not for profit org. so the pay was low and management seemed to listen to the people in the office rather then the people in the trenches so to speak.

I worked at Conner Prairie part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Not much other than there were parts of the job that were enjoyable.

    Cons

Director of Historical Interpreters is a liar.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to the Board of Directors is to clean house from the top down. You've sprung a leak in the Historical Interpretation department and you're sailing perilously close to discrimination lawsuits regarding color, age and weight. No confidence in upper management. Your training needs a serious overhaul. You do not train appropriately or legally for the day to day experiences of individuals out in the park. Overhaul those who lead the historical interpreters and be very aware of upper management biases.
