Vindictive bosses.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote true leaders or develop leadership skills in existing management.
Stop stripping employees of the power to make decisions.
Adhere to developed safety procedures and involve employees in the development of new ones.
Hire more employees instead of increasing work loads.

I have been working at ConocoPhillips

    Pros

Pay, great benefits, job security, respect from community, positive environment, The environment is safe, and people seem generally happy to be there.

    Cons

Company split , Contractors are rude and obnoxious to employees, no cafeteria, mandatory bottom ten percent rating. Peoples performance is compared to other people in similar positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of some of the dead weight contractors and people with bad attitudes. The environment would be better if people that drug others down were eliminated.

    Lack of team culture
    Very high workload

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bayway Refinery: When promoting or reassigning employees; please consider employees that have a genuine interest in the postion rather than shuffling the normal chosen few from department to department. The same people keep getting moved into positions to advance their careers. While in the meantime other interested and very capable employees continued to get passed over. This culture does not create a challenging work environment.

If you haven't already, you will begin to start losing experienced and dedicated employees to your competitors. You should also consider allowing employees that wish to and apply for transfers to other ConocoPhillips site locations to do so if there are no promotional opportunities for them at Bayway.
