ConocoPhillips – “Senior Management takes MILLIONS in VCIP payouts while laying off hundreds of employees.”
Pros
It's a horrid economy, so it's great to have a job
Cons
Individuals are unable to control their own career. Senior Mgmt participates and waists nearly 2 months of the year in "people planning" activities trying to direct the careers of their reports. Sadly, positions that are posted have already been spoken for by the Senior Mgmt team. This is contrary to the actual communication to the employee which says that they are to take charge and own their career by filling out their Individual Development Plan and post for positions that make sense.
Sadly, employees with appropriate skill sets are passed over because they didn't graduate from the right University Graduate program
Advice to Senior Management
Lead by example and don't take your Variable Cash Incentive Program payout to avoid the announced Layoffs
