I have been working at Constellation Energy Commodities

Pros

could be a cool place to work if the pace were to pick up and the ivory tower academic projects ceased and we actually focused on making money.

Cons

the talent has left the building.
the 18th floor is out of touch with the realities of the business and the mood of the employees.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to enter the no spin zone and stop the ivory-tower showboating. If showboating is rewarded over results and risk-taking Constellation will become all entertainment and no profit. No matter how many town halls, emails from the desk of Mayo, and off-site leadership huzzah love fests you have, when results do not line up management loses credibility. If you want to grow the business at 15% per year (double double 2020) then you need more than showboating and the talented employees right now are only half committed, waiting for the job market ro perk up so they can fly. The taleneted ones will be scooped up first. oh.. and why are people responsible for the crash still in leadership roles?

I have been working at Constellation Energy Commodities

    Pros

Large bonus potential; Good work-life balance as long as your manager likes you; Convenient to downtown Baltimore; People in the area know what company you work for

    Cons

Constellation is portrayed as a greedy company in the local media, so people might think badly of you if they know what company you work for

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers should not be so blatant about showing favoritism; Management needs to recognize that most people working at the company are not happy

I worked at Constellation Energy Commodities

    Pros

Big boy in Energy (Electricity). Experience of the team. Name carries weight.

    Cons

Baltimore. Enough said. No training for guys who are new to the business. And they take a bunch of analysts/associates who dont have a fig of an idea of what electricity trading is all about. its all on the job( even the basic things like the databases/sources of information/proprietary tools used as part of daily work. the less we talk about helping ppl to understand the math behind the "exotics" that get executed in the firm the better it is) so it take take 2-3 years before one can look one self in the mirror and be confident about her/his capability.
