Promotions at Cisco

Current Employee - Program Manager in San Jose, CA
Current Employee - Program Manager in San Jose, CA

I have been working at Construction Industry Service Corporation full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Leader in every field they enter. Strong focus on being number 1 or 2 in field.

Cons

Many promotions seem unrelated to experience, esp. relating to the ability to manage people. Multiple are in people management positions with little ability to manage people.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider people management skills as much as technical skills in selecting for promotion.

I have been working at Construction Industry Service Corporation full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Stock is still above $10

    Cons

There are a few bullies who run the show and make it bad for everyone. Any new employees should beware of management. Managers are not trained to manage people and the only reason they've become managers is because a relative or a friend had put them there. Many managers are only worried promoting themselves, whether they do the right thing for the company is irrelevant.
HR is oblivious to what bad managers do and try to calm things down, but not fix the problem. HR considers this as the cost of doing business. In fact, it has got so bad I know colleagues who are afraid for their personal physical safety if they were to speak out. The bad managers will get worst and the good people who do work for the company will leave or get terminated. I personally would not invest in this stock anymore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Must listen to feedback from employees about bad managers, secretly investigate those managers and eventually remove them from the company. They are likely to become a liability at some point in the future.
