    Pros

Great people, great management and am awesome place to work. Perfect location in the city. After working here you'll be able to sell ice cubes to an eskimo. Consumer United has prepared me for any sales job I take on in the future, while making tons of new friends.

    Cons

You are either cut out for the job or you are not. People that can't do their job month after month should be let go. All it does is hurt the company, moral, and the real closers.

    Pros

Company does pay for training, albeit a two-week process where you're supposed to learn everything there is to know about insurance before being tossed onto the sales floor. People are nice, young, excited. As long as you hit your numbers you can do pretty much whatever you want. Pay is great if you hit your numbers, non-existent if you don't.

    Cons

The company uses an automatic dialer that calls leads 10-20 times/day, ensuring that everyone you talk to has been sufficiently bothered before you're supposed to convince them that they need your help, quote them, and sell them. When the company is not hitting goal, blame will fall on the sales floor regardless of the actual issue (more than often technical/network related). Management seems to put forth a fake "care" for their employees but when it comes down to it, always numbers first. You do the same thing every day. Company is frantically hiring to establish themselves for investors, so the quality/qualifications of new hires can be relatively sub-par. Someone stole all of the forks out of both kitchens.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is trying to build a brand and is poised to do so with infrastructure and investment in place. Yet, the marketing tactics, sales tactics, and customer service tactics all speak to a company trying to get as many policies as possible now, with no regard for the future success. To be successful the company will need to slow things down to ensure a pleasant experience for customers. Retention is the name of the game in insurance, and at this point I don't know if/how CU can transform into a more retention-based model.
