I have been working at Convergys

Pros

You never have to drive to work.
The hours you save actually give you the time for more quality time for your family

Cons

Not a great job for advancement
Work At Home Software over the last two years has actually become more cumbersome and less user friendly.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The daily systems are not designed to make the job easier, but actually harder, and add stress. They seem to be designed to keep employees from actually excelling or to make bonus. The system is not designed for the good employee who want to come in early to keep up on current products. You are penalized for coming to work early (AP) to read e-mails or study products even though you are not actually on the time clock.

    I worked at Convergys

    Pros

    free coffee
    free parking
nice office space (except carpet was in need of replacement)
work was somewhat engaging; sense of comraderie
Nice sev. package - will get you to your next opp.

    Cons

merging Matrix call center bus. into Convergys was the beginning of the end:
-benefits for IM emp. suffered greatly, including higher cost, reduced tuition reimbursement, reduced prof. dev./certification reimbursement, decline of retirement/pension, etc.
-RIF model-> 1 U.S. loss = 4-5 new India hires early in 2000's, all in the name of "diversity" that many took hook, line and sinker. A true cover-up for what it really was "outsourcing".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A bit late I'm afraid. Sell-off is likely in 2010. Too many changes in strategy as well as organization changes. "moving from decentralized to centralized", sev. years later "moving from centralized to decentralized model (i.e."Line of Business").

I have been working at Convergys

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. Nice office building and bathrooms are very clean. Dress code is nice and allows you to be casual.

    Cons

The schedule that they make you accept in the beginning is atrocious and isn't conducive to having a normal life. The pay is also sub par for the responsibilities that they bestow upon you. I questioned whether they would be able to compensate me for my experience and the hiring manager stated frankly that the initial salary couldn't be increased at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increased salaries for new hires and regular scheduled raises may keep the help that you desperately need from going elsewhere.
