Gave me the opportunity to learn a lot in an environment that was welcoming throughout my department and the industry

I worked at Cook Children's Health Care System as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

The work environment is fun because it's all done for the kids! The people are great because they want to make a difference in children's lives

    Pros

Locations, number of physicians, working with the children and their family

    Cons

Lack of compassion from many employees, "clicks or groups" that make it hard for new employees.

Looking for a career home, the health plan is not the place.

    Pros

Some non-management employees really value and care about their work.

    Cons

All levels of management are toxic and trickle down on entire organization which is relatively small. No communication as to objective or strategy much less management face time as a whole with the workforce. Zero recognition within the health plan, zero mentorship, zero emphasis on team building, and leadership is virtually non-existent. If you are person who goes against the status quo they will shoot you down.

    Advice to Management

Embrace and encourage change. Establish and promote a healthy culture.
