I have been working at Cooper Carry Inc. full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Wide range of project types Large, complex projects

Cons

Old school hierarchical management Diversity is lacking, particularly in upper management Still struggling financially from recession Quick to hire up for projects, quick to lay off in downturns Chronic understaffing of projects Quality control needs improvement For a large firm, little training for seasoned staff or interns

Advice to Management

The old way of doing business may still work (for now) in the South. But the industry is global and you continue to limit your potential with hierarchical management. People who look like you are not the only talent that should be tapped. You are on a path to become less and less relevant in the world of "good design."

I have been working at Cooper Carry Inc. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to take on new professional challenges. Wide variety of project types and practice groups. Fairly easy going for a corporate firm.

    Cons

Deep layoffs during hard times. Need to improve intern development and continuing education for all professionals. Need to include women in upper management.

    Advice to Management

Communicate transparently to your employees, when times are good and bad. Expand your career opportunities to include females in upper management. After 50 years, there are none.

I worked at Cooper Carry Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great technology, good software they are at the front of the latest in the industry

    Cons

Typical corporation, you are a number and if you are not the typical show off, speak your mind irreverent personality you won't climb.

    Advice to Management

stop the extroverted trend of people that don't work but talk all day and give more prize to the introverted that work all day long and talk only when contributing great ideas that make sense.
