Former Employee - Lead Customer Service Representative  in  Greer, SC
Former Employee - Lead Customer Service Representative in Greer, SC

I worked at Copart full-time for less than a year

Pros

Banking hours, no weekends, and hour lunches.

Cons

Extremely high turnover rate! Please train your managers out there in california to be very helpful and productive. The one in Greer has been there 8 going on 9 months and still doesn't even know what he is doing. Upper level needs to consider training there csr for at least 3 weeks, so tasks are completed successful. Every week someone is getting fired or quitting....Copart has poor management all the way up to upper level. At the Greer, SC location there are no seasoned employees. There is no formal training here and they realize that....Copart is set up for people to fail. The manager there now is clueless as to what his actual responsibility is.....He can't even assist customers at the counter....I don't know what kind of business they are running, but it isn't a good one....DO NOT APPLY FOR A JOB HERE.....OVER WORKED, NO REWARDS, BUT THEY WILL GLADLY WRITE YOU UP AND FIRE YOU IN YOUR FIRST WEEK OR TWO OF EMPLOYMENT. NO OVERTIME EITHER

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop telling your employees what to do and you learn how to do it. If your employees know how to run the business and the GM doesn't then we need his pay!!!

I worked at Copart full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They have multiple locations and have been in business for a long time.

    Cons

Copart the company is a crap whole. Their prices are some of the lowest out there and the only reason why the buy vehicles is because they take advantage of people when they are most desperate. Vehicles they sell on auction sell way below wholesale prices.

As a Vehicle Purchasing Agent the best way to describe this position is they over promise and under deliver. The current purchasing team is full of agents who were recruited using improper taxctics. (Ex. They show you old paycheck stubs of employees who made 75-125k a year. What you don't know is the average purchasing agent makes about 40k. ). They recruited many people away from VERY good jobs, and the entire team is distraught that they came to work for Copart. Many are leaving and those still in this position are job searching on the side.

When the program started you could make 60+k but after many bad decisions the position has now changed and you become a glorified CS agent. They have combined 3 roles into one and you are over worked and under paid.

The CEO and Upper Management are just a bunch of yard dogs who were in the right place at the right time. They have no idea what they are doing and took a purchasing program that used to Profit 2 Million a year, and thrown it into despair and they are now losing 500k-1 Million a year on the program. There was a reason why the Director or Copart Direct left the company in the Fall of 2011. I now view Copart as the worst mistake in my Professional Career and I am still recovering from this mistake.

I have been working at Copart full-time for less than a year

    Pros

No Weekends, time goes by quickly

    Cons

Weak culture and poor morale; Regional manager is a clone trying too hard to be in the boys club. Should have stayed a secretary...Company has strong operational programs in place however are very weak on training. Rely on weak asst. managers that know how to do the tasks but can not explain and train properly; GM hides in office avoiding customers; arrives late every day and leaves early...lead by example! Waited daily after 8:00am for someone to show up with keys to get in, unless RM was in town, then they were on time....Majority of people are afraid to make a mistake because management thrives on pointing out errors. GM stated company is not what it once was, told me i should have looked elsewhere for employment if i wanted to be happy....LOL

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

RM Look harder at your teams...rug is being pulled out from under you and you cant see it....just because the P&L looks OK, don't assume everything really is...If you only knew
