Current Employee - Manager  in  Seattle, WA
Current Employee - Manager in Seattle, WA

Pros

Experienced and competent co-workers
Good benefits
Downtown location

Cons

Promotions are often of the wrong people into the wrong jobs
With few exceptions, managers are ineffective team leaders
Director level and above management is, for the most part, out of touch with employees
Lack of trust in upper management
Initiative to improve culture is being led by CEO and cronies

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers should be selected and promoted by their ability to lead a team toward common goals, not based on their tenure or success in pet projects
Consider programs such as Six Sigma to enact change/growth of focused, competent managers
CEO should excuse himself from projects to improve company culture

Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Good benefits include fitness and education reimbursement. Good medical benefits. Time off is flexible and if you get selected there are good management training programs.

    Cons

Leadership is not inspirational at all. The business plan is constantly changing directions and staff can never feel very secure in their jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick with a plan. Be more open with your staff about the good and the bad things that are going on.
