I have been working at Core-Mark

Pros

Core-Mark is going through a lot of changes and most of them are good changes. The company is always adding new customers and this has allowed employees to work steady hours and even earn some over time. Communication between management and employees has improved over the last year or two. Management asks for employee's feedback on improvements that need to be made. People are friendly and professional. The benefits and time off are good.

Cons

Hourly starting pay is only $9.50 but you can receive a few increases during your first year. Training wasn't quite long enough. More training could improve the efficiency and accuracy that is always being talked about in start up meetings.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to communicate with emloyees and ask for feedback. Order more scanners. Consider extending training for new hires. Take more time before bringing on new customers to prepare for the customers becuase it may help with service level.

    Pros

    The company is growing substantially at the time. They have a lot of employment opportunities. Many different areas to live and work.

    Cons

    The compensation packages seem to be substandard to other professional sales and management jobs. They tend to jump into things and then try to fix the problems that arise.. Not prepaired for the growth that is asked for in most cases!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Build a stronger foundation before bringing on new business. When you add "weight" to a shaky foundation you cause many problems that could have been avoided and spend countless hours/dollars fixing the situation.

    I have been working at Core-Mark

    Pros

    3 day work week, ability to make $60,000 a year and good benefits .

    Cons

    Management dont understand and listen to drivers and wanting a day off is like pulling teeth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Experience in the transportation industry important, when in management is vital, in keeping drivers happy and keeping drivers commited to a company.
