I have been working at Cornell University full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Very good benefit package. Stable position. Very good university that offers free courses to employees.

Cons

Low salaries for staff positions and limited opportunities to grow. It is tooo hard to move up. You keep doing the same things forever.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to staff. They are as important as faculty

I worked at Cornell University part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Working as a consultant is a great opportunity to learn about the various technologies used at Cornell and to help others. Hours are flexible, and the other staff members are generally willing to share their knowledge.

    Cons

The work can be slow at times, and it can become a bit repetitive and tedious. However, new technologies are introduced frequently enough to mitigate this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more structure for new employees. One-on-one talks during the first couple weeks could be beneficial to ensure that the new employee knows what he/she will be doing.

I have been working at Cornell University full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The school has a great reputation and the alumni love us which makes the job fun.

    Cons

Location. Location. Location. Ithaca's remoteness can prove a challenge at times but if you like small towns it really is beautiful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Generally very seasoned and good to work with.
