I have been working at Corning

    Pros

There are always new and interesting developments going on, whether I am on the project or not. This place doesn't stand still.

    Cons

Sometimes the culture of "politeness" prevents people from doing the right thing.
The individual contributor is not really valued as much as the management track so we have people supervising who aren't good supervisors but have other great skillsets; apparently having them be supervisors is the only way to justify their pay grade.

    I worked at Corning

    Pros

Corning does things right. They don't jump into things without substantially weighing the pros and cons, it's a great place to learn the right way to go about product development and customer satisfaction.

    Cons

Different departments are quite silo'd and moving from one department into another feels like switching employers altogether. This requires substantial internal networking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take leadership more seriously. Several leaders at the executive level exhibit crucial leadership flaws and several amount to "laughing stocks." Politely move them out of the way and get a true leader.
