Invest in R&D year in and out to develop the next technology from glass and ceramics.

Starting to get bureaucratic with its increasing size.

    Future of company is uncertain and not promising; HQ location is rural and isolated.

    Recent stealth salary freeze, move to cliff vest and similar actions adversely affect employee morale and loyalty.

    I have been working at Corning full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Pay is in line with most companies
    The Elmira/Corning area for the most part is a nice place to live

    Cons

    Way to many Chiefs and not enough Indians
    Corning Incorporated use to be a very good place to work, it has changed so much over the years
    Upper Management really has no idea what middle management is doing to people and pushing so many good people off or out the door.
    Corning Incorporated would be a wonderful place for an episode of "Under Cover Boss"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop allowing so many re-org's You really have no idea how much you are hurting the people that care so much about their work, and giving so much to a company.
    Corning has spent way to much money hiring a Consultant Company's to come in an tell them the same thing that the Corning Employees have told them all along.
    Back in the day, doing your job well meant something, today it all comes down to who you are meeting for drinks that night.
    Corning should take a good look at the top Managers of IT and audit their "P" cards.
    I approve of the CEO Wendell Weeks, I just wish he would take a better look at what is really going on.
