Corporate Executive Board – “Used to be a great place to work”

Pros

-Every manager I had was good about approving time off
-Lots of vacation days once you've been there 2 years
-Nice building

Cons

-Upper level management has no idea how to run a business, I seriously would not allow them to run my kid's lemonade stand
-The board apparently doesn't care that the stock has gotten crushed, that the CEO is hated, and that the employees could care less about the company
-The sales and member services department high performers are treated as heros and given lavish prizes and gifts while the people actually creating value (in content delivery and research) are overworked and underpaid.

Advice to Senior Management

-Board: You know what you need to do. Act.
-CEO: don't act like CEB is some great altruistic organization that is doing good in the world. You are helping the largest and richest organizations in the world earn more money. That's fine, but please do not talk about compassion and courage and other trite words that have nothing to do with what the company actually does.
-Practice Leaders: think like business leaders, NOT researchers. All this talk of strategic goals and higher meaning of the research doesn't mean anything if no one wants to buy it.
-Overlay the date the CEO took over with the stock performance on a chart and judge for yourself.
