I worked at Corptax full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

- Good team members
- Latest Technology
- Work from home opportunities
- The company makes a good product and it is being adopted by many customers so there are opportunities based on company growth.

Cons

- Excessive turnover in technology staff and management. In past 12 months, heads of App Dev, Product Development, QA and IT Operations have all left. Staff turnover equally high. You are constantly working with someone new in their job.
- Senior IT management lacks respect for employee's knowledge or skills.
- IT Directors and Managers are OK but have their hands tied and all either give up or leave.
- Highly tense environment caused by senior IT management.
- Priorities shift frequently and staff takes blame for inability to hit target dates.
- Unprofessional and occasionally abusive communication from senior IT management.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management knows what the issue is from many exit interviews and knows what would be required to change the situation.

    Pros

    The software is great with many loyal customers.

    Cons

    Poor management is the issue. Releases are not planned and work load is heavy ALL year. Be prepared to work 7 days a week - including holidays! Money is the bottom line, not employees or customers. Poor communication within the executive committee trickles down and causes all the extra man hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Start implementing true Agile development to focus your work processes more efficiently. Really give your employees respect and learn their value. Train management at all levels - some Directors are poor leaders and have been promoted due to seniority and not because of their skills. Many inappropriate and disrespectful remarks by leadership create a negative work environment. I feel lucky to have escaped this sweatshop mentality.
