I have been working at Corrections Corporation of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Many corporate initiatives for employee recognition, talent management, operations excellence, and ongoing research into new and emerging markets. The company provides a great deal of training to both new hires as well as current employees, and it is relatively easy to transfer/promote from within. The majority of the senior leadership team are committed individuals and seem to have a sincere desire to make the company a good place to work. CEO started as a Corrections Officer and is very approachable/hands on. Jimmy Turner is also excellent. Facilities are all over the country, and CCA always is looking for new contracts so if you are open to transfer and have a solid corrections background & are willing to work then you can promote pretty quickly.

    Cons

Some of the first-line management at some locations forms cliques, contrary to the the goals of the company as a whole. This makes is hard for those individuals who are trying to do their job the correct way. Other major cons: No educational reimbursement, overly structured/bureaucratic environment, and very, very high deductibles for medical coverage or prescriptions. The company does offer a HRA plan which covers a certain amount of costs up front, but it runs out fast if you are on costly prescriptions there are no generics for. Another big issue I have observed at a couple facilities is with first line supervisors and even higher level individuals talking in a disrespectful manner to those who report to them. This would likely explain the high turnover rate found at many of the facilities.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the concerns brought to your attention from the facility employees. I know that some people are going to complain about everything, but repeated complaints about the same people/person might warrant some attention. I'm not sure how to solve the issue but this is probably your biggest morale killer. Seriously consider adding an educational reimbursement benefit for at least partial costs or to cover certifications, and consider adding an additional benefits option for people who do not mind paying a bit extra per pay period instead of a large deductible.

Thank you for your comment however the CCA you are looking for is a completely separate company to this one, we are CCA International based in Paris, London and across Europe.
