Cost Plus – “World Explorer”

Pros

-Uniform isn't so strict. Basically solid colored jeans/pants and solid colored shirts: Black, gray, blue, and white. Mix and match is allowed.
-Move to grow and move up.
-Fun working people.
-Discount is pretty nice 30%.

Cons

-The constant pressure to sign up customers to World Explorer.
-Hours cut if you don't sign up enough customers to World Explorer.
-It's retail have to be able to handle difficult customers.
-A lot of heavy lifting.
- Can't use coupons only rewards.

Advice to Senior Management

The constant pressure to sign up customers should be cut down. We are basically scared into signing customers up to WM Explorer. We try our hardest to sign people up but we can't force them to sign up. If the customer says no, no, NO. There really isn't much we can do after that. It would also help to switch people in and out of the register. If there is only one person on register for 8 hours they ring up more people then someone on the floor who basically has to sign up one person and get 100% on WM Explorer. They are the ones getting the "Great job on Explorer!" That really isn't far, since the person on the register has to try much harder.
