Pros

World Market has wonderful employees, unique products that always make coming to work new and exciting, and the ability to be creative through varying merchandising techniques.

Cons

Tight labor (depending on what volume store you are in) makes it difficult to provide adequate customer service and to finish the multitude of projects that need to be completed.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training and development need to be improved on all levels.

I worked at Cost Plus part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Interesting products, especially if you get to do stock rather than cashiering. Get to know your co-workers and you might have some fun days. Get to know the customers and you might go home with an interesting story or two. Learn to live with the chaos and this place is alright.

    Cons

If you don't get past an aversion to selling the free member discount program, you'll have to put up with a lot of nagging about your "numbers". It's a little frustrating when you want to do well and are usually a high-achiever and customers turn stubborn and mildly rude when you ask for their contact information.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on communication with ALL employees, and don't schedule a closing shift followed by an opening shift. Acknowledge a job well done and be careful about wearing employees thin, even part-timers.
