Pros

Fast Paced Company. Great Customers from Exotic Places. I did enjoy the store music and culture which brought great life long friends as well.

Cons

Too great turnover in managers and employees so it is hard t have a cohesive team when ppl are coming and going at such a fast pace.

I have been working at Cost Plus part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Very flexible about hours.
Coworkers generally seem to be nice and friendly.
If you work hard you get more hours=more pay.
    Friendly supervisors and department heads.

    Cons

First and foremost World Market Explorer. It is absolutely the worst requirement put on to the employee in this company. The fact that they require everyone on the register to sign up 30% of the people that walk in the door for the rewards program is rather unfair when around I would say 70-80% of people (just a guess) are already a member. It puts a significant amount of stress on everyone to do well when it really isn't practical to get 30% when you get repeat customers who don't want to sign up or the people during the holidays that come in once a year.
Second would have to be the hours. There is no full time at this place. Everyone is part time excluding the supervisors. Department heads can't even get full time.
Third would have to be is they don't fire you. They just stop giving you hours. They can't tell you to your face that you aren't going to work out.
Last but not the least important at all is the gm. He's not very cool and that's all I'm going to say about that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start paying for advertisement and stop forcing your employees to sign people up for a "reward program" when all it is is a cover for email blasting the hell out of customers. An email and sometimes two gets pretty annoying. Also upgrade the software on the registers and RF's or get some new registers. If speed is important, streamlining the check out stands and the lines and how the process works in general should be a priority. Some tape on the ground doesn't help.

    Pros

Ethical company, ethical employees, flexible, incentives. Those are the pros, the management is frazzled but helpful.

    Cons

The pay is slow, the management is helpful but all over the place, there is a lot of theft that no one seems to care about.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Calm down and take a minute.
