Costco Wholesale Hourly Employee in Arlington, VA:   (Current Employee)

Pros

Good pay and health benefits in a busy environment. Never a boring a day at Costco. Upper management is strong. There are endless opportunities for advancement if you work hard and show commitment to the organization. You are allowed to wear shorts during the summer. Sunday pay is not bad either!

Cons

Long lines + rude members = chaotic atmosphere. This is a warehouse based membership club. Costco tries to provide excellent member service, but we are not Nordstrom. Old hourly workers tend to slack off and gets away with it. Some managers are not qualified to be managers. They lack the necessary skills to communicate effectively and ability to lead.

Advice to Senior Management

Better training program for managers. Managers need to be more active in the development of hourly employees by inspiring and motivating. Some positions are redundant and employees can get bored. Happy employees increases productivity and better member service.
