Pros

- Promotes from within the company - Health and dental benefits offered to part-time employees - Supports education; always worked with school schedule - Adheres to the "Open Door Policy"

Cons

- Difficult to cross-train in other departments; seems like no one wants to take the time to train - Strong divide between employees and management; never felt like a "team" atmosphere

Advice to Management

There should be a stronger emphasis on training for new supervisors and managers. Although I love that Costco promotes from within, sometimes the newly promoted employees lack management skills, especially how they address members' and employees' issues.

    Pros

Work with some good people. Start off with higher pay

    Cons

Low hours and hours are not consistent week to week(making it hard to get another part time job). manages/supervisors play favorites(not treated equally) When they hire seasonal workers, they take permanent employees hours from them instead of using them when we need extra bodies on busy days like weekends. Electronics section doesn't stay stocked with TVs that sell so members are leaving to go other places to purchase TVs they want.

    Advice to Management

Costco buyers need to order TVs that sell and keep them stocked. Also stay on top of technology to order products people are gonna buy. Example - Make sure LG and Vizio M series TVs stay in stock. Supervisors should ask people in their section what days and hours would work best for them. And then schedule them those hours. If all the employees worked the days and times they wanted, they would be happier employees and moral would be better.

    Pros

Costco provides a Great work environment. The benefits and pay are fantastic for not having a college degree. It is overall a great company to work for and I encourage anyone work there especially while going through school.

    Cons

The managers are not all that qualified. They can be very poor performers at times. In addition there are many incompetent members.
