Pros

Great location, lots of flexible hours, competent peers

Cons

Difficult as an assocation management firm to manage finances as they are dependent on the states so layoffs are often considered.

    Pros

Org does promote from within so are growth opportunities. Seems to have plenty of funding, so that's never an issue. Although management is not the most responsive to employee dissatisfaction, they did recently demote a problem manager. Very good external networking opportunities to plan your next move!

    Cons

Management is its own worst enemy. They seem to lack emotional intelligence. Employees are either woefully underappreciated and their work overlooked or, when their work is on the senior mgmt radar, bombarded with unreasonable, unintelligible, and contradictory demands from senior management; there doesn't seem to be much of a middle ground. Sr. mgmt also seems to suffer from an inflated sense of CSG's importance / superiority over other criminal justice policy organizations, which grates. Departed employees (org has high turnover) are openly disparaged.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to make all staff feel valued. Strive for more professionalism (e.g., don't insult former employees in front of other staff) and humility.
