I worked at County of San Bernardino

Pros

The people who work in the county are nice and patient. The working hours is stable. At the end of the internship, I learned a lot about how government accounting operates.

Cons

The work was not challenging and sometimes could be boring. But it depends which department you work with. As an intern, I worked a lot with documents.

    Pros

    diversity at all levels
    self-managed at appropriate levels
    benefits good until recession
    employees

    Cons

    Once corrupt always corrupt mentality
public perception that we have too many benefits
union dues, union does nothing except to imply they are working for us when they have already sold us down the river (even if this is a recession - make cuts fair at all levels)

    Advice to Management

need to have more interaction with "front line"
conduct "brown bag" sessions on a skip level basis - no fear

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits and ability to have vacation and sick time to use when needed

    Cons

When it comes time to promote up it doesn't matter if you have good work habits very good work performance it seems to be not what you know, how good you work you will get passed over for people with less experiance

    Advice to Management

When hiring for Supervisory positions a person applying needs to be looked at with their experiance, work performances and how they perform there jobs. Not just the questions that are being asked at the interviews. Maybe look at the yrs of experience a person has what aids they have worked for the county also
