I worked at County of San Diego full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good pay and benefits, room to grow, easy to understand the career ladders and how to move up, good opportunities for further training, very stable job environment.

Cons

Not much feeling of creative, out of the box, innovative thinking; lots of time spent with other employees checking the days off until retirement.

    Pros

Good retirement package and plenty of job security if you aren't interested in going anywhere.

    Cons

Poor leadership development program Supervisors aren't well equipped and usually stay in the position for 10-20 years which does not allow for talented quick rising employees to stay to pursue internal opportunities.

I have been working at County of San Diego full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Stable employment and ability to be creative. Ability to use various skills in counseling.

    Cons

There is no consequences for employees that act up and are not held responsible for completing duties etc. Work environment difficult as the Union protects those that are apathetic and avoid doing their job. You reach a certain level and your salary stays the same. It is difficult to promote.

    Advice to Management

Create incentives for employees and support program managers in order to work more efficiently.
