Soooo Disappointing (and depressing)

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIt is a job (IT)

Cons-Unrealistic expectations (due dates (doesn't account for all the other 'things' that will be added during that timeframe) & shifting expectations (different roles, and responsibilities than orginally communicated) , Projects/tasks dates are chosen arbitrarily to meet the additionally chosen project end-date
-Micromanagement,
-Favorism,
-Cliquish
-Tactical approach-->, cheap, 'band-aids' vs. seeking strategic solution for IT
-Leaders are 'superior' to employees- don't communicate, status meetings are confrontational/political/hidden agendas vs. open and conversational as a 'team' would be
-Seven separate IT divisions, who fight 'cross pollination'-- like to have seven separate kingdoms
-Managed by bullies and guilt (ie. can't take a vacation day, if you do can you work the weekend to make up for missed work? (is that a vacation day?) or while you're on vacation day, can you call in the conference call? Worked a year straight with two total personal vacation days-- manager never even raised the topic.
-Heads-down mentality; no thought of recognition; no thought of shifting to a better planned , better managed evvironment-- just a jockey (manager) whipping the horse with blinders on (worker). to do more, more, more

A friend told me not to take the job (as she worked there previously), but I thought perhaps it was only a certain area. I was wrong. I should have listened to her. That is why there are so many positions available.
