Former Employee - Sales Engineer in San Francisco, CA

I worked at Coverity full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Telecommuter support, good engineers, smart talented and willing employees. important product to have out in the world, needs to be more effective and affordable and fairly priced.

Cons

micro managers, absolutely no trust approach to running a business, the products aren't really as good as the company declares (believes) it to be, pricing scheme is cheesy and arbitrary, everything is discounted unnecessarily. Contracting model pure nightmarish - quite unbelievable for the modern age -poor customers who have to deal with this company. You asked.

I worked at Coverity full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Location, Tuesday treats, and expresso machine

    Cons

I have been in the industry for 20+ years and have never seen such a brutal political environment. Direction is not clear and changes constantly. The whippings will continue until morale improves ...

Smart engineering, but lame upper management

Former Employee - QA Manager in Austin, TX

I worked at Coverity full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Engineers very smart. Commitment to automated testing. Commitment to customer satisfaction is outstanding, and engineers work directly with customers on a regular basis.

    Cons

Terrible IT. Technology not the newest anymore. Capricious upper management. Engineering seen as the weakest department when it is actually the strongest. Management has repeatedly shown itself incapable of predicting release dates. Executives have little innate understanding of product that is being sold.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix the infrastructure issues, of which there are many. Hire a strong VP of Engineering who can earn the respect of the Engineering staff but is capable of working the the executive staff.
