Pros

Coverity is located in Soma, right next door to the Giants Stadium. Great location if you're living in Soma and if you don't have to pay too much for a company parking space. I worked for Coverity back from 06-09. Those were the years where things were really good, esp within the Marketing, Engineering and other groups. People were easy to get along with, management was friendly, there was a collaborative culture and people were genuine and willing to help you move forward. The environment was positive coupled with a somewhat laxed culture.

Cons

Beginning of 09, the economy hit Coverity very hard. People were laid off right and left and in a manner that was quite brutal and inhumane in some cases. For example, I knew someone in Sales that had made their quota, exceeded it every month and was let go very last minute after he was asked to relocate to a new city. In other people's cases, they were let go with no pre-warning, often times their managers trying to undercut their reviews or make it out like they were let go b/c they weren't a fit, not because their managers mismanaged the budget. People are over worked, under paid and the management has taken on a new approach in terms of dealing with their employees. Employees are disposable at all times. If management needs to save an extra buck, be prepared to get axed. You are no longer a person but a number. There's no morale at this this company which is truly disappointing because it started off a lot with a lot of promise. I would not recommend working at this startup unless you're desperate for work and money for no more than 3-6 months.

Advice to Management

Rather than firing all your valuable employees, it might be better to re-assess the budget, lower the pay off some of the C-level employees in order to retain the original talent.

    Pros

Good products and value offering in a nisch market where one compete with open source products and customer not understanding the benefits.

    Cons

Top management and sales management lacks professionalism and change the rules for success. Internal politics and a very closed environment where a lot of people under perform and a few over perform. A lot of great people left the company before and after the acquisition by Synopsys who made a very bad investment over valuate the companies market potential. Will have to do a big write off.

    Advice to Management

Should have listen to the great employees they had.
