I worked at Covidien full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Above average pay, good advancement if you can get into the "good ole boy" network. Work with some good people (but usually not for long, the good ones rarely stay)

    Cons

No vision, no leadership, no support of rank and file. Company seems to exist only for profit of senior leaders and stockholders. No support for new product development: research money swings wildly from one year to the next...one time high, another time all money taken away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support research and development. Trim top heavy, and expensive leadership, and support rest of company

The Carlsbad respiratory division was the most untrustworthy and sordid organization I've ever worked at.

I worked at Covidien as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

The opportunities to learn from astute coworkers is definitely there, and the facility was nice. The place is secure.

    Cons

The Carlsbad respiratory division is composed of the nastiest people you will ever meet or know. All they did was try to get other co-workers fired from their jobs by either filing inaccurate or misleading complaints (equivocations) or hopping on their co-workers' computer while they were away and writing nasty e-mails to the supervisors/managers under the disguise of their co-workers e-mail address. Just disgusting people. Also, they didn't follow their own ComplianceWire policies which they forced their employees to learn (and pass tests on). Instead, if anyone is caught adhering to corporate policy for safety through ComplianceWire, they were immediately fired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop believing the equivocations of childish complaints by nefarious children manipulating the management into believing a false story, or misleading/deceiving the management in an attempt to get their co-workers fired, thinking it was funny. How about listening to both sides of the story? This is a case of the naive victims, the despicable co-workers, and the obtuse boss taken for a ride.
