Current Employee - Technical Support Representative in Oklahoma City, OK

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Free cable internet and home phone and home security great people to work with good pay and benefits are decent and you do receive raises every year

Cons

Management has a way of beating around the bush whenever issues arise and it almost sometimes seems like if its not affecting them no one really cares. Also there is one member of management that could discriminate aganist you and everyone will tell you "thats just the way he is but hes really a nice guy"

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management I would look into reviewing who you decide to hire on as members of lower management as a lot of them are good to work with some will talk bad about the company, and possible get Cox itself into legal issues as I know I stilll might file a dispute with the EEOC

Current Employee - Project Manager in Atlanta, GA

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    1. State of the art workout facility
    2. Job Stability
    3. Competitive Pay/Benefits (with Bonuses)
    4. Variety of options for seeking internal employment opportunities. With the various divisions, you can change jobs without having to leave the company and losing tenure.

    Cons

    1. Promotions given out based on who you know.
    2. Easy to become stagnant if you aren't proactive in taking control of the advancement of your career.
    3. Lots of politics. Upper management has their own agenda without giving clear strategy to the team. They may as well run the company on their own. Lack of clarity and prioritization.
    4. Very immature with effectively employing project management processes. PMs are more like project coordinators. Attempting to improve with new EPM and Assured Frameworks.
    5. Work-from-Home options are hit or miss.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more aggresive with initiating advancement opportunities for current employees. Hire/promote based on talent and skill, not relationships. Create more team synergy by setting clear direction and goals for your team.
