I have been working at Cox Communications full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Free cable, phone and Internet service. Smart and team oriented co-workers. Interesting and fast paced industry. Autonomy for most roles.

Cons

Mature industry struggling to grow. Not the fastest to market with products. Constant price increases are contributing to customer loss. Hiring freeze across entire company (with few exceptions) is stressing out workforce. Lots of consolidations and reorganize right now is creating an increased political culture.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more transparent about selection process with reorganization efforts. Stop dual reporting and have all field functions report to corporate.

    Pros

    Supportive, friendly management, not as micromanaged as other similar companies, relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere.

    Cons

    The attendance policy is ridiculously strict. It's not the amount of time allotted that is ridiculous, but rather the lack of understanding for emergency situations & the fact that they're still counted against you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Although having a strict attendance policy is understandable in a call center environment, sometimes "life" happens. Please be more understanding in these emergency situations. You have lost a LOT of valuable employees due to this.
