Former Employee - Operations Analyst in Research Triangle Park, NC

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time (more than a year)

Pros

A lot of opportunities to do outside networking and events in the community as well as many training classes available to employees

Cons

Not team oriented, Little to no interaction between employees, excessively long hours, outsource jobs to India

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should be more interactive and provide support to their employees. I felt the training was sub par in relation to the expectations.

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Good training.
    Friendly people.
    Good work/life balance
    Name recognition
    Informal culture
    Very good compensation.
Very international firm with a great diversity of people.

    Cons

    Gets political.
    Shared services is very bureaucratic.
    Upper management makes decisions erratically.
    Exit opportunities ambiguous.
Zurich and New York sometimes have power struggles.
Cost controls need more work--too much costs are allocated to the businesses that they become unprofitable--streamline shared services and cut unnecessary costs, such as the large army of strategy advisers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set a stable direction for the company to go, and place more importance on the business instead of shared services. Also, try to figure out how to manage the power struggle between Zurich and New York. Also, learn how to control costs better so the businesses are more profitable, or else the stock price is just going to go down. Be a little daring--we're too conservative.
