I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time

Pros

Still an interesting place to work.

Cons

Constant change and massive cuts still ongoing.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realise that there are some limits to the cuts that can be put in place if we are still to be the "most admired bank".

Negative Outlook
No opinion of CEO

Great Work life balance but too much prejudice and nepotism

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

While working at Credit Suisse, I had fantastic team members and met a lot of people who were co-operative in moving things forward. Also, I had great help making a global move and in searching for global work opportunities.

Also, I had very good work life balance. Credit Suisse recognized that its employees have a life outside of work and did a lot to encourage that this was not lacking in our lives. Pay was also great !

    Cons

Firstly, in the area I worked, there was little work progression. I felt very little was done towards helping employees progress in their careers. Even when training when was requested, there no commitment from management towards it.

Secondly, I felt senior management where I was often very biased and sometimes racist. I found that doing a good job and achieving your goals was not enough. Most of my experience here with management is that they are more inclined to hire a friend and help friends progress in their careers rather than focusing on people who have real talent.

I was also disappointed with how HR worked. For example, when offered another role in my home country, I was told I would not get any help moving back as I was a "local" and was asked to rely on my partner hopefully finding a job with compensation for moving.

Lastly, there is a lot of prejudice towards women and foreigners which is quite shocking for a global bank.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps it is time to hire management who care about helping the company progress through employing talented and committed individuals. There is quite a but of nepotism and this has to change if Credit Suisse is to attract and retain talented, loyal, hard working and committed employees.
