I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Still has some good 'old school' high calibre people, still very strong/top tier in specific areas of IBD and capital markets. Still offers good exit opps.

Cons

Best people are rapidly leaving the firm, no longer as good as it was in a number of areas, is falling down the ranks. Swiss regulatory issues don't help either.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Seems like there is too much change in strategy at too high a frequency.

Current Employee - Senior Software Engineer in Zürich (Switzerland)

I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    lots of projects going on
    smart or even bright colleagues
    friendly people
pro-active culture, as en employee you can have an impact if you really try

    Cons

    too narrow on processes (CMMI)
too little spirit for real innovation (whole software stack is fixed, have to fight to get new stuff in)
too much politics, many projects involve more social powerplay than technology engineering

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    focus on getting things done
let employees have more say on priorities
open up on technology choices (e.g. open source)
