Good company to work for

Current Employee - Sales Coordinator
Current Employee - Sales Coordinator

I have been working at Cricket Communications full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

They have a great benefits package - very competetive. They are getting better at listening to their employees.

Cons

Current employees have NO idea what the salary range is for a position that they're interested in applying for and that is not right. Because it is not posted anywhere, the "general consensus" is that you can get offered whatever the company feels like offering you, instead of what the minimum is for a particular position.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Cricket needs to post the salary range for ALL job grades, like other major employers do.

    Pros

the pay is good from the amount of work that is expected

    Cons

leadership is completely disconnected from the feild. many employees are sitting around waiting for the next round of layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

cut salaries of non-performers. what has always worked isn't working anymore. The company should stop encouraging stagnant positions and reward innovation.

Broken Business Model, Shrinking Customer Base & Not Profitable

I worked at Cricket Communications full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

High-tech product line is fun/cutting-edge. Cricket has nice office locations in Denver & San Diego although they are looking to get out of those buildings to save money. Pay seemed above average with great benefits

    Cons

Terrible employee experience but at least the company recognizes it. Cricket is outsourcing many departments deemed to be not core competencies so IT, real estate, supply chain, distribution (70% of sales through third party dealers), etc. Executive management is poor with some brand new to the industry and still learning the basics with others having been around for ever and presiding over a huge stock price decline. Customer base is shrinking, company is not profitable and hasn't been since it's inception. There are few promotion opportunities as the company is not growing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix customer service problems & change business model to include post-paid. The prepaid business model is not sustainable/profitable.
