I worked at Critical Intervention Services full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

You get time off to pursue a college education. Plenty of opprotunities for overtime. If worded right, experience can be used for an impressive resume. Almost impossible to lose your job (literally just show up) due to the bottom line and client mandates of personnel to be on-duty at any given time.

Cons

Completely random weekly schedule; you won't know what site you're working, what days you're working it or what time you'll be working until the day before the end of the current week-long schedule. There's a clique and if you aren't in it, they'll try to make you quit via the schedule and bullying. Heavily inflated and unjustified sense of self-worth and importance; they'll try to brainwash you into believing you're saving the world from terrorism when in reality you're just a glorified security guard with a firearm.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Solidfy the schedule. Eliminate the clique.

I worked at Critical Intervention Services

    Pros

Decent pay compared to other security jobs. You will definitely get all the hour you want

    Cons

Management is terrible, you are just a means of getting greater contract money out of TECO. There are not enough people to fill all the spots, therefore you will work 60-70 hours a week quite often. Everyone at the company, management mostly, likes to pretend that they are some kind of "super security contracting operators" when in reality this is just a security guard job much like the old guy who sits at the bank. None of the higher ups can take any constructive criticism or any semblence of input from the guys in the field. If you have a complaint or an idea of how to make the facility you are at more secure keep it to yourself, they don't care how experienced you are or how much you have done in the world, they just want you there as window dressing to give people a false sense of security.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that you are security guards and not Delta Force

I have been working at Critical Intervention Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Open door policy from the CEO all the way down to the supervisors in the field. Career opportunities are like no other, you come in to work security but can transfer into the different companies and every type of position you can think of and can transfer to other cities. Any type of training you can think of if you just ask for it. Great uniforms, great equipment, and supervisors and SR Management that actually care.

    Cons

a ton of hours to work but if you like overtime its basically unlimited. No one has to work but those who want to get ahead and fast, they can.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to care and get officers involved. Continue to encourage the field to give their input.
