    Pros

Salary is ok - benefits are a joke - I think they want employees to soon be on hospice.

    Cons

What do you say about a business that will tell a family anything just to get them to sign a loved one up for hospice... and for that matter have patients who have been on service for a year and a half plus! Meanwhile, management forces employees to write chart notes depicting a neediness for a patient to have hospice - you must not write any signs of improvement -even if its true. You would think that someone would let the corporate clinical director know about this craziness, but here's the kicker, she's the one telling the clinical staff to do it! New job can't come sooner....

I worked at Crossroads Hospice full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Decent pay and getting to provide hospice services (a true kindness in this hard world). Day nursing is better than nights for many moms, and they have some very committed aides. Their social workers are really conscientious and some of the chaplains are outstanding (others are sincere, but completely uneducated in their field).

    Cons

Crossroads Hospice markets themselves with promises that are too hard to deliver. They have something called EMC "Even More Care". They promise each family when a patient is "actively dying" that someone will be there 24 hours a day. Most hospices don't provide that, so it is a very attractive feature. What they don't say is that the person who is there is usually a chaplain or social worker WHO CAN'T PROVIDE ANY HANDS-ON CARE. I feel sorry for the chaplains and social workers (note well: chaplains and social workers, this is a TERRIBLE place to work) because they have to sit there awkwardly with bitterly disappointed families. The families thought they'd have a nurse or aide with them (a reasonable expectation considering what they were told), but no, they get someone who can't do anything. It's wicked to trick dying people and their families. Since leaving Crossroads and working for an honest hospice, my life got tons better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell the truth to patients/families; hire enough nurses and aides to provide proper clinical care and hire only educated chaplains and social workers and let them do THEIR job.
