I worked at Crowe Horwath

Pros

Benefits were solid, my group was very accomidating for taking time off. Some maanagers did a very good job teaching skills that translated across job functions and explaining the impact of decisions and how it effected financial reporting/ what ever you were working on.

Cons

Lack of work. Market for services below up, my office was over staffed and they were losing clients. Things might have been diferent if the market was huming alond. Some managers were not good a managing or working with others.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on utiliazation rates, staff development and giving managers incentive to develop staff. The mix between staff and managers seems to be off in a lot of offices.

Great PTO benefits and being able to work from home, but pay and career advancement is lacking.

I have been working at Crowe Horwath

    Pros

    - Very generous PTO policy. 4-7 weeks per year depending on years of service
    - Flexibility with scheduling work start and end times and working from home
    - Transparent communication from from firm leadership at the C level

    Cons

    - Continually adding new work without added capacity to complete it in a reasonable work schedule
    - Excessive hours requirement
    - Career advancement opportunities are non-existent despite significant praise and recognition, which in turn is meaningless when you can't get a promotion or a decent raise
    - Unnecessarily complicated and inefficient processes
    - "Team-building" activities that make you feel like you're back in first grade that create little value for professionals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lead the firm. Don't micromanage the day to day activities of those below you making a fraction of what you make. Increase accountability on all levels.

I have been working at Crowe Horwath

    Pros

    Talented Staff
    Industry expertise
Ability to provide awesome service when they want to

    Cons

In aspiration to move up market the firm has put its values up for sale. This has caused back stabbing, greedy partners and employees and encouraged poor service to its clients. The corporate governance in this firm is horrible starting at the top. I would not hire this firm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revisit the firms values and the founders goals. Clean house starting at the top and don't allow anyone regardless of position to operate outside the values.
