Good for a regular, part-time retail job

Store Associate (Former Employee)

ProsDepending on who your coworkers are, this can be a great job. Most customers are friendly and the work itself isn't awful. You're getting people cupcakes for crying out loud.
Cupcakes = happiness

ConsDo not work here if you are looking to make a good chunk of change. This company got cheap, cheap, CHEAP recently. Hourly Associates used to start at $10-$11 an hour and now you will start at $8.25 an hour. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.
If you are looking at a TL position, that is going to reflect more on your actual experience. If you don't have much experience supervising/managing/assistant managing in a retail and highly-focused customer service position, you won't be making much. Worst case scenario, you will start around $10/hr. May not seem too terrible but when you consider the increased work you are doing and the strange hours you will most likely be working, it could be better. And the pay ranges there are so vast. I know some TLs who make around $10/hr and others who are making $15/hr doing the same amount of work. And sometimes the lesser paid TL is actually doing 2-3 times MORE work than the others... depending on what type of store you're at. It's just not fair, so don't go in expecting it to be.
Corporate itself just needs to get itself together a bit more. When 2013 rolled around they took tips away AND the free cupcake you could take after every shift. Since then some stores have been allowed to accept tips again and some haven't. It depends on what state you are in and the laws that the stores/kiosks have to abide by. People are still entirely unclear about the cupcake rule. Some managers/TLs think we're still not allowed to have one and others are fine with it as long as you stay hush-hush about it. The stores really need some clarity from corporate. Honestly, they need to start looking at their more successful locations/managers and start looking at them to join the corporate team. These people know what they're doing because they're up against it day in and day out. They aren't stupid - so take a hint, corporate. Hire the people who really know the company.
