Current Employee - Principal Systems Engineer in San Diego, CA

I have been working at Cubic full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Making systems that make a difference
    Well compensated
9/80s and very good work/life balance

    Cons

The focus is on executing programs, not developing products. This leads to a top down, financially driven approach to running an engineering company. Have recently tried to inject a culture of innovation into the company DNA, however there is a lot of inertia to overcome to make this venture successful. Engineering doesn't seem to have a strong voice in the direction of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep injecting innovation into the culture. Deal with the leaders who have outdated notions of what is technically relevant. Don't allow people to operate like it is still 1985.

I worked at Cubic full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

9/80 work schedule is the best part when you are able to take advantage of it. Most people are good to work with.

    Cons

They will grind you to the ground. Management is aggressive in cutting to the bone. Seems like it is a company of Vice Presidents and Interns with no middle ground.
