I worked at Cummins

Pros

corporate social responsibility, really smart people, true commitment to community. they have been voted #1 for most ethical company in the US, but you won't hear a lot about it because it's against their philosophy to make their community commitments a business case or opportunity for public relations and marketing. very rarely will you see a company that is this genuinely committed to making a difference in the world, their employees are great and team oriented and every one is very proud to be working there. the only critique is that as a manufacturing company the structure can be very regimented

Cons

i think this is a a really dumb way to make people write reviews and says to the lack of integrity of this particular website. i think the people who do the design for this survey should think very seriously about how they map out consumer behavior trends, writing a hundred words per entry is way to burden to be putting on to you casual internet surfer. you need to team up your engineers with some marketing and usability geniuses because i am appalled by the idiocy who thought coersion for information would be a long lasting business strategy for this company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

i think the senior managers of this website should seriously look back at their business proposition, all you need is one competitor willing to get information without this kind of harassment and you'll be out of business. have you even thought about at least breaking up information into smaller chunks for people to input. besides the fact that i tend to do a lot of business writing and absolutely hate consumer-unfriendly business models, who the hell else are you gonna find to write 300 word reviews for your pages? definitely not any of those engineers who are looking for salary info and hate essay writing!

I worked at Cummins as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Collaborative, strong company with a lot of growth opportunities. Management was very receptive and the intern speaker series gave me a chance to talk with upper management.

    Cons

Very slow heavy industry, seniority is a high priority. MBA is vital for moving up the company to any high position.
