    I worked at Curtiss-Wright Flow Control full-time

    Pros

Good Work Schedule, decent workers to work with, ok with benefits. People who work here and really like it are productive and committed to making it an exceptional place to work.

    Cons

Hot and dirty work environment. Unrealistic expectations and way too many levels of leadership. Also, with so many leaders no one seems to understand the importance of honest communication. Cut throat political environment.

    Advice to Management

Remember who got you to the point to where your at now.

Unexpectedly disappointing: expected stronger organization, communication from company this size & caliber.

    Pros

Workforce commitment to goals is evident throughout the company. People who work here and really like it are very productive and committed to making it an exceptional place to work.

    Cons

Integration of acquired business units is unstructured and not well planned. Guidance from upstream is slow to materialize and transition issues are unnecessarily difficult - and costly - to accomplish. Objectives are not always clearly communicated and often conflict. Because communication tends to be unilateral, I did not get a sense that there is a true 'team effort' to accomplish objectives - and was a witness to quite a bit of staff impairment, frustration - and frequently turnover at various levels.

    Advice to Management

Strengthen CWFC culture and Corporate image for the 21st century: Human Resource and Management functions need to facilitate employee productivity by encouraging (v. discouraging) communication and foster a team mentality toward solving problems and achieving goals. The annual survey may be helpful - but it's just quantification without qualification. The generation/s you are seeking to fill the next round of open positions simply will not adapt to a1980's C+C management style.
