I have been working at Curtiss-Wright Flow Control full-time (more than an year)

Pros

All products are designed and built within the same facility. There aren't very many places where you see the entire life of a product from design to manufacturing.

Cons

Because of all of the government work done, excessive paperwork is mandatory. The pace of work is drastically affected by the paper associated with each job.

    - Excellent benefits.

    - Office politics & nepotism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This is a review of the SoCal business unit of Flow Control:

Management has a lack of vision in the aftermath of Fukushima, Japan. Promises and assurances were made to the employees, but still layoffs occurred (four rounds so far).

An example of bad management is the operations manager. He's maybe a good engineer, but he's not a good manager or has any business aptitude. By laying off experienced workers in favor of newer and less experienced people is just not smart. Plus, when your recent hires tend to be mostly based on your ethnic group or suggestions from close friends and not on qualifications/experience, something is not right. Perhaps, it's for the monetary bonus for getting people hired into the company. And that's probably why the company is failing. And the worst part is that the rest of management and HR turns a blind eye. There is also a lack of promotional opportunities unless you're in the inner circle.
