I worked at Cymer

Pros

The people working there are very friendly, and willing help most times - if mgt does not prohibit it. I really liked the people I worked with, and made friends with many of them. The work can be challenging at times.

Cons

Pay increases are slow to come, typically, after working there a couple years, people new to the company will make more for the same job. Additionally, while there are promotions within the company, they make it difficult at best. Any upper mgt can stop a promotion that mangers on both sides agreed too, even if delayed a few months (someone I worked with). OR, you can promote into a higher position, but be paid less than if the company hired a new person into the company. Managers even complained about this one.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fair compensation, and actively promote from within. i.e. readjust salary when a change in job occurs, and take qualified internal employees over outside people. The technology is advanced, and current employees have skills that take time to train for.

    Pros

Cymer has great facilities and does not skimp on improvements that are needed to advance the technology. Change happens quickly, are you ready for it? Above average compensation in many cases.

    Cons

Sr Management drives good people to leave
HR is completely ineffective and is a whipping post for Sr Mgmt
    Turnover is high
    Wellness and concern for employees
    Machievellian environment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need better customer management and address the turnover issue. The greater SD area knows what it is like to work there and many won't!

    I worked at Cymer

    Pros

Technology leader. Pay is reasonable. Good experience for someone fresh out of school or just want to get a paycheck.

    Cons

No career growth. Decision is made by 1-2 people at the top. Very slow and painful decision process. Extremely short term focused.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust VPs, Directors, Managers, and group leaders can make the right decisions. Given them authority. Focus on long term growth
