I have been working at D&B full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Exceptional colleagues, interesting and dynamic work Great opportunity for career advancement, education opportunities, and strong work life balance.

Cons

Disconnect with sales leadership and the front line, late to innovate, inept technology platforms. The company has lost its edge as a "sales organization" and needs to reinvigorate the sales force. Enagement scores are extremely low.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus strongly on innovation, employee engagement, internal and external communications. The predictive analytics recalibrations are being well received, however D&B's role in "big data" and "global analytics" is an internal vision that is lacking traction in the marketplace since the company hasn't traditionally played in that space. Senior leadership needs to ensure mid-level management is helping their front lines reinvent themselves and the customer base. Senior managment is extremely operational, introverted, and the culture has become pervasive.

    I worked at D&B full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Worked in Hoover's Online division with some talented people. Definitely a learning experience, as we were able to identify and pursue challenges. Still friends with people I met there.

    Cons

    Headquarters doesn't want Hoover's to succeed. It was better when D&B left Hoover's alone, but now they are actively working to undermine the work that takes place in Austin.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get with the times. You need to look in the mirror, realize you are a dinosaur, and do something about it. You are surviving based on your past reputation.

    I worked at D&B full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Reasonable Pay. Guaranteed to get paid on time. Other than the "ok" pay, there was nothing good to say about this place. I dreaded waking up in the morning and heading to this dungeon.

    Cons

    Nothing but gossip, meetings all day long with no outcome. People, from management down feed on gossip and don't do anything about the childish work environment. Surrounded by bullies who management are too afraid to reprimand. Management looked down on their staff as if they were peasants. They claim to be an equal opportunity employer but you can count the minority on one hand.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Take ownership on whats going on in your department. People are leaving the company left and right and it's because you aren't taking action. Act as a team and don't hand down your dirty work.
